Will Your Organization Help Us Fight Hunger?

The mission of Helping Hands Fight Hunger is to reduce the incidence of food insecurity in the United States. We accomplish this important work by partnering with a wide range of organizations interested in packing and providing 10,000 to 1,000,000+ meals for the food insecure in their community.

According to a recent US Department of Agriculture report, 1 in 6 Americans, were food insecure at some point during 2011. Food insecurity is defined as the limited or uncertain availability of nutritionally adequate and safe foods or the limited or uncertain ability to acquire acceptable foods in socially acceptable ways.

So, how can your organization help?

Organizations interested in conducting a Helping Hands Fight Hunger Campaign typically fall into one of two categories:

  • Private and Public Schools, Athletic Leagues, Booster Clubs, Scouts, and Similar Groups looking to raise funds for their own organizational needs, but who also want a fundraising event that is meaningful and gives something back to their community
  • Churches, Sororities/Fraternities, and Civic Group seeking a ministry or community service opportunity simply as a means to help those less fortunate

At this point, you are probably wondering: How does any organization pack 10,000 to 1,000,000+ meals? Whether you are a small organization or a large organization, we have the system or “recipe” to make it happen. Essentially, there are four key “ingredients,” but as with any recipe, having the right ingredients is just the first step. Knowing how to combine them is the key to making everything work.

Key Ingredient #1:
Your Organization

Your organization is obviously a key ingredient for a successful Helping Hands Fight Hunger campaign. However, you are probably thinking that to have an impact of this size, your organization needs to be large. Well, that is not necessarily the case. We can help a small organization “host” an event that will involve other organizations from your community as well. However, if you are a large church or civic minded organization, then you can host and conduct a stand-alone event that can have a major impact on the food insecure community.

Key Ingredient #2:
Your Participants

Once you have decided to help the food insecure in your community, we will help you identify a few key volunteers and will then coach them through the process. Once that piece of the puzzle is in place, a comprehensive communication plan will be built, based on a model that will work best for your organization, and executed. As people are informed about the program, each participant will learn how they will be a key contributor to making your packing event a huge success.

Key Ingredient #3:
The Meals

We will provide all of the meal ingredients needed for the event, based on the number of meals to be packed. Meal ingredients will be shipped to your location a couple days prior to the day of the meal packing event. You will also receive all the needed supplies to assemble and pack the ingredients into meals. This includes hair nets, funnels, gloves, bags, boxes, food scales, and more. You just need to coordinate the tables needed, and of course the volunteers to assemble the food.

Key Ingredient #4:
Our Program and Expertise

Obviously, it is not possible to pack 1,000,000 meals (or even 1 meal) without there being a cost involved. Of course, the more money available to be used, the more meals that can be packed. Our campaign utilizes expertise from over 25 years of cumulative experience in helping organizations raise the funds necessary to reach their goals. Your organization will be given a unique online process as well as step-by-step coaching on how to implement and communicate with your volunteers. Making this process easy is very important so everyone in your organization will be able to help you reach your meal packing goal, without having to spend countless hours of time working to raise money!
